内容説明
This proceedings, Soil Improvement for Earthquake Hazard Mitigation, contains the eight papers presented at two Geotechnical Engineering Division of ASCE sponsored sessions held in conjunction with the 1995 ASCE National Convention in San Diego, California on October 26, 1995. A keynote paper by James K. Mitchell and co-authors reviews the performance of over 30 improved soil sites during recent earthquakes, including the 1989 Loma Prieta, 1994 Northridge and 1995 Hyogoken Nambu (Kobe) quakes. The papers represent nearly equal contributions from industry and academe. Topics include dynamic properties of chemically grouted sands, explosive densification of loose saturated sands, and stone columns. On the latter topic, papers are presented on both land-based and offshore construction of stone columns, on methods for monitoring construction quality and on assessment of post-construction engineering properties of stone columns. Several case histories provide detailed insight into stone column construction by vibroreplacement and bottom-feed methods.
