A comprehensive survey of the work of Jeff Wall. Known for his large-format transparencies and his cinematic imagery, Canadian artist Jeff Wall composes his photographic works in the manner of a film director, staging scenes and making meticulous use of technical aids such as videos, still photographs and computer technology to achieve the desired effect. While Wall often portrays subjects from everyday life, it is his understanding of classical composition that propels his work into the realm of fine art. This volume brings together photographs from the beginning of Wall's career in the 1970s to the beginning of the 21st century. It includes the artist's best-known works, as well as previously unpublished material, and an interview with the artist.
