内容説明
This book suggests that Magna Carta was not simply the product of the evil rule of King John but the culmination of unease with the Angevin government which went back to the reign of Henry II. It analyses the reasons for this unease, the expressions of discontent and the ways which the Angevins dealt with them. Royal opponents who, early on, began looking favourably at the Capetian court are also discussed as are the methods which the Capetian kings of France used to exploit the situation to their best advantage.
