Description

This monograph traces Anselm Kiefer's development as an artist with reference to four major work in his oeuvre. The presentation begins with the "Dachboden-Bilder" ("Attic Images"), which is followed by "Steinerne Hallen" ("Stone Halls") which focuses on the "Memorials to the Unknown Painter". "Images of the Cosmos and Constellations" of the years 1995-2001 are also discussed. The essays document Kiefer's development from microcosm to macrocosm with a return to earth with the "Sunflower Paintings". The text ends with a section of photographs and an essay which focuses on the architecture and design of Kiefer's studio estate in Barjac as well as the installations realized there.
