Description and Table of Contents

Description

The Arte Povera movement brought about a radical redefinition of art and was born as an alternative to the art trends of the day, like pop art, which were inspired by images of a consumeristic society. This book examines a significant nucleus of historical works of the Arte Povera movement from three important collections: Museum of Contemporary Art Castello di Rivoli; Galleria d'art Moderna, Turin; and recent acquisitions of the Fondazione CRT (Cassa di Risparmio Torino). It includes 90 works by the leading protagonists of the movement: Anselmo, Boetti, Calzolari, Fabro, Kounellis, Mario Merz, Marisa Merz, Paolini, Penone, Pistoletto and Zorlo. The book also contains new, previously unpublished essays by each of the artists (with the exception of Boetti). In addition to legendary works from the Sixties and Seventies, each artist will also be represented by recent works.
