Description
This set reprints a number of works by the much-acclaimed aesthete, critic, painter and poet. Adrian Stokes is celebrated for his work on the social aspect of aesthetics, and his proposition that a capacity to understand art is dependent on a capacity to understand human beings. Through the application of psycho-analytic concepts, his writings provide valuable insights into our own appreciation of creativity and culture. In the volumes reissued here a variety of issues are explored including landscape values, art as ritual, modern urban environment, contemporary and avant-garde painting.
