内容説明

This book examines the relationship between women and religion in the Lutheran context of the Nordic countries. In the 19th-century the old social order based on households was challenged and gender relations were renegotiated. Women's active social role was both promoted and opposed by referring to the authority of the Bible. Five scholars from the Nordic countries analyze the debates of woman's vocation, and offer new interpretations of the history of women's movements.
