内容説明
The authors analyze the "Total Quality Management" (TQM) in effect at ten colleges and universities across the United States. They explore the experiences of each institution in implementing the various quality principles associated with the TQM philosophy. The internal and external forces that are driving the quality movement on campus are also examined, and the development and implementation of systems that are needed to improve quality are discussed. The final chapter of the book summarizes nine lessons derived from the authors' search results. This work seeks to enable university presidents, deans, vice-presidents, and quality coordinators to gain an understanding of the quality principles, and also to acquire new insight into the successess and frustrations experienced at institutions as they pursued the quality process.

内容説明
This new work takes quality principles and practices in higher education beyond theory by providing practical examples of what happens when these principles are applied. Freed and Klugman conducted an in-depth study of 10 quality-oriented colleges and universities. The administrators, staff members, and faculty members of these institutions candidly share their successes and failures in this book. The authors address the internal and external forces that are driving change and describe the development and implementation of quality systems that will meet the challenges of today's competitive academic environment. They also discuss the barriers to implementing quality principles as well as ways to remove them.
