内容説明
Samuel Wadham arrived from England in 1926 as Professor of Agriculture at the University of Melbourne. A man who was prepared to ignore heat, dust and flies to talk to farmers in remote districts, Wadham defied the then accepted image of a university educator, being unpretentious and at ease socially in all surroundings. Through government bodies he shaped soldier settlement, endorsed the Snowy Mountain Scheme and helped scuttle plans to settle European migrants on peasant farms. This fascinating biography also reveals the complexities of his character and his family life.
