Description
The main areas of bronchology and bronchoesophagology are hypopharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchus and esophagus and their functions as pathways of air, food and phonation. These functions will be disturbed by infection, trauma, tumor, nerve paralysis and disorders of the central nervous system. These congresses addressed all aspects of bronchology and bronchoesophagology and also included sessions on other areas of interventional pulmonology, such as thoracoscopy. The congresses also highlighted major recent developments in telemedicine and minimally invasive diagnosis and surgery, such as the use of CCD chip technology in videoendoscopy. Future developments were addressed in two special lectures: "Micromachine" by Mr. Mizuno (Japan) and "Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease" by Prof. Dent (Australia).
