Description
Bernard Bosanquet (1848-1923) was one of the leading figures of the idealist movement that flourished in the late-19th and early-20th century. He made major contributions to philosophy and had a significant role in British social policy. Bosanquet wrote or edited some 20 books and was the author of over 150 articles. In his obituary in The Times, he was said to have been "the central figure of British philosophy for an entire generation". Nowadays his writings are studied by those working in political philosophy, ethics, epistemology, and the metaphysics of community. This set of three volumes contains articles and essays that were first published in little-known journals or magazines. They also feature new editorial introductions, with complete primary and secondary bibliographies. For libraries that already have some Bosanquet holdings, these volumes provide an introduction to his thought, plus articles, reviews and essays that are missing from his best-known books.
For those libraries that do not have the major texts, this set offers a representative example, and a sense of the breadth and depth of Bosanquet's contributions to a range of topics in philosophy, politics and social policy.
