How can the EU address the needs of its citizens? How can it become more open, democratic and efficient? The multi-authored book is a direct response to the European Comission's White paper on European Governance. Drawing on the expertise of parliamentarians and civil servants from both Westminster and Brussels, as well as authors from civil society, bussiness, local government and academia, it will stimulate much-needed debate in the UK at this, the pivotal moment in the EU's history, Now facing the multiple challenges of enlargenment, Economic and Monetary Union and tyhe prospect of a European constitution, it is time for Britain to throw itself into the debate.
