内容説明

The seventh edition of Michael Hill's Understanding Social Policy updates his successful text to take into account policy innovations since Labour came to power in 1997 and to reflect the many ways in which the debate about social policy is changing. The book has been significantly reshaped to reflect new or strengthened policy linkages, in particularly those between social security and employment, and child care and education. It also contains a new chapter putting the UK in comparative perspective. Its last chapter examines the way in which social policy has been dramatically transformed by changes in politics and society in the last twenty years and contains a new section that looks specifically at 'social divisions' within the UK social policy system, including a discussion of the poorer deal often secured by women and by members of ethnic minorities.
