内容説明
Drafting is one of the most specialist and refined skills that must be mastered by those training for the Bar. Not only must barristers be able to draft with absolute clarity and precision, but they must also be able to use drafting skills effectively for persuasive and tactical purposes. One can only learn drafting skills through practice, but once the elements have been grasped it becomes a transferable skill which can be used in the creation of many different legal documents. This manual takes the trainee barrister through a range of different types of draft, including all the major types required for general practice. The emphasis is, however, on statements of case, because of theirimportance in civil litigation, and because they provide the best foundation for the learning process. This is intended to be a comprehensive teaching manual of real practical use to all readers. Every example is followed by a detailed commentary explaining the draft. Throughout the manual are a series of exercises, which will enable practitioners and trainees to practise and develop their skills and to discover further techniques not included in the examples.

Drafting is one of the most specialist and refined skills that must be mastered by those training for the Bar. A barrister must not only be able to draft with absolute clarity and precision, but also use drafting skills effectively for persuasive and tactical purposes. This new edition has been revised and updated to act as a comprehensive teaching manual which will be of real practical use to all students. It places the emphasis on pleadings, both because of their importance in civil litigation, and because they provide the best foundation for the learning process. However, it also covers a variety of types of drafting that are of relevance to general practice. Each chapter contains numerous examples and every example is followed by a detailed commentary explaining the draft. Throughout the manual are exercises which will enable students and practitioners to practise and develop their skills and to discover further techniques not included in the examples. This edition takes into account all the latest changes relating to practice and procedure. The early chapters on the skills of drafting have been rewritten and there is a new chapter on the use of plain English.

Drafting is one of the most specialist and refined skills that must be mastered by those training for the Bar. A barrister must not only be able to draft with absolute clarity and precision, but also use drafting skills effectively for persuasive and tactical purposes. This manual is an excellent teaching resource which will be of real practical use to all readers. The emphasis is on pleadings, both because of their importance in civil litigation, and because they provide the best foundation for the learning process. However, many other types of contentious drafting of relevance to general practice are also covered. Each chapter contains numerous examples, and every example is followed by a detailed commentary explaining the draft. There is a series of exercises throughout the manual, which will enable practitioners and students to practise and develop their skills, and to discover further techniques not covered by the examples. These exercises are supported by chapters on the skill of drafting and the use of plain English.
