Description

The impact of the Gulf War on the delicately balanced ecology of the area was demonstrated with great drama in media reports featuring photographs of blazing oil wells and sinister black oil slicks. As well as providing an illustrated account of the effects of the slick and the massive pall of smoke, this book studies the other major threats to the environment in the Gulf. Based on a film made by the authors while the conflict was still in progress, it proceeds to examine the Gulf environment in the aftermath of the war, the toll taken in terms of the region's wildlife, the measures being employed to clean up the mess, and the full implications of this vast pollution problem.
