Description
In this revised edition of "How to Measure Training Effectiveness", Leslie Rae describes a variety of ways in which training can be assessed for effectiveness and value, building on the third edition. He covers the entire training process from the identification of learning needs, through the planning and design of a relevant training programme to validating and testing its outcome, and the workplace effective implementation of the learning. Since the previous edition was published the training world has started to look much more seriously at evaluation and, in particular, return on investment (ROI). This is reflected both in the new content of the book and in the new title. The entire book has been updated in the light of this development - for example, stronger differentiation has been made between the use and form of reactionnaires and learning questionnaires, resulting in two separate chapters where the previous edition had only one. Similarly, information on competence standards and NVQs has been brought fully in line with current thinking.
A new chapter has been added to bring up to date the issues around the use of e-technology in training and how to handle them in evaluation. The book is designed as a practical guide and is written in non-technical language. It should be particularly helpful to newly appointed trainers and to line managers with training responsibility. Most of the techniques presented can be applied equally to single events and to a complete programme.
