Description

The complaints of God and the Prophet stand side by side in the multilayered text complexes Jer 11-12, 14-15 and 18. Although there are no literary relationships between the divine and prophetic laments, the substantive affinities are obvious: just as God complains about his abandonment, Jeremiah laments about his isolation, from which he wants to step out. But if he does this, he can no longer depict the abandoned God in front of the people. As God bears the consequences of his own judgment, the Prophet suffers from the consequences of his preaching.
