Description

Conceived in the early 1990s by Frank Inouye, who served as the first director of what was to become the University of Hawai'i-Hilo, this is the history of the institution over fifty years, from 1952 to 1993. Inouye's intent was that "each writer would contribute his personal recollections, insights, and observations about his tenure as head administrator." Subsequent to Inouye's untimely death in 1995, the project was completed by Edward Kormondy, chancellor of UH-Hilo from 1986 to 1993, who adhered to its original design and intent.
