内容説明
"Fun without Fatigue" is written for carers of children who have restricted movement and limited energy. Every Paediatric Occupational Therapist and Hospital Play Specialist will be able to think of children who fall into one or both of these categories, sometimes for the whole of their childhood, and sometimes while convalescing from a serious operation or illness. This book has many ideas to increase the possible play activities for children for whom robust physical play is not an option. From the very simple, quick and easy toys to long-term projects this book contains many different approaches to toys, some of which children can make on their own, others with the aid of a helper. At the end of each section are some 'Lifesavers' to make play possible in difficult circumstances. If you are a parent, therapist, teacher, nursery nurse or carer you will find this book a treasure trove of new play ideas and information. Roma Lear is a Froebel-trained teacher and started her career by working with children in hospital wards.
Her creativity and enthusiasm led her to devise toys and games to amuse children with specific needs, and some of these ideas were later developed into toys which could also have a therapeutic use. She established one of the first Toy Libraries (for children with special needs) in the UK. She was involved with local playgroups, and over the years became a home tutor to many children who, for various reasons were unable to attend school. She gained Distinction in the City and Guilds Toy-making Qualification and spent several years as the toy and teaching equipment maker at large hospital for children and adults with multiple disabilities. Roma is an international expert on the subject of homemade toys and play ideas for children with disabilities and lectures worldwide.
