His clearly written proposals and manuscripts have earned state and national awards, including a Fulbright Scholarship and a National Science Foundation Academic Year Fellowship. He was named the Association of Teacher Educators' Distinguished Teacher Educator for the year 2000. His Introduction to Grant Writing and Writing for Publication workshops have been given on more than 200 campuses.
