Description and Table of Contents
Description
This publication contains the proceedings of an international conference, held in November 2002 in Hiroshima, Japan, which brought together 60 scholars, practitioners and government officials to consider the historical lessons to be learned from post-conflict reconstruction situations over the past 50 years and their relevance for today. The papers consider experiences in Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, East Timor and Afghanistan; six reconstruction cases which, although differing in their historical, cultural and social contexts, contain many commons themes and lessons applicable to current reconstruction efforts.
