内容説明

Carousel Animals takes you on a journey through the late 1800s to the early 1900s - a period when immigrants from Europe travelled to America to seek opportunities arising out of the industrial revolution. These immigrants used their skills as talented woodcarvers to introduce the merry-go-round and its dancing animals to America. Through 144 pages filled with over 100 colour illustrations of these carousel animals, along with related ephemera, the author sets out to show what fine artists these men were through their exquisite sculptures. The book devotes a separate chapter for each of the master carvers' works - allowing collectors to find specific works with ease.
