Description and Table of Contents
Description
This comprehensive introductory text focuses on the effects of globalization to tie concepts together for students and to show them how the fates of developing and developed nations are intertwined. It is a comprehensive introduction to the politics and cultures of Africa, Asia and Latin America and is organised around the theme that globalization is accelerating their change. Each chapter begins with a brief discussion of the impact of globalization on the particular topics covered in that chapter to give students a broader context in which to examine the issues whilst encouraging them to see that industrialized countries are not isolated from developing ones. Features include: case studies throughout to enable students to apply concepts to real world situations; coverage of the September 11 2001 terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington D.C.; key terms in the margins to allow students to understand terms as they come across them; an abundance of maps and photographs to help students locate places and illustrate concepts; website addresses and descriptions at the end of each chapter; and discussion questions.
