Description and Table of Contents

Description

"The Tapestry of Culture" is a brief, introduction to cultural anthropology, designed to provide a conceptual framework with which to read and understand both classic and contemporary ethnographies. The text uses a comparative approach and it emphasizes the interpretation of symbols and the meaning of things. The new edition has revised the presentation of material and offers expanded, bulleted chapter summaries, more clearly defined and highlighted key terms, additional headings and suggested readings and web sites. A revised chapter 1 gives students a clear introduction to get them started in the course. In addition, numerous chapter-by-chapter content changes have been added throughout the book, including splitting a former chapter into two new chapters to increase the coverage of applied anthropology in a new chapter 13 and new material on Afghanistan in chapter 15.
