What is "kitchen culture"? Life that revolves around the activities, feelings and ideas associated with the use of a space at the centre of home, from where food is prepared and hospitality emanates. Our lives are physically lived in our kitchens more than any other room. Therefore, a room for this range of uses needs to be carefully planned. There is a return to valuing family life where quality time between family members is suddenly considered to be vital for a healthy and happy life. The new interest in food now valued as a culture also helps us to create a new focus upon the role of the kitchen. The amount of input that can go into the planning of a kitchen can be as light or thoughtful as you care for. The more you investigate the culture of the kitchen the more you realize what a huge role it plays in making a house become a home. Its value is potentially great for enjoyment and function. It reflects the society and culture in which we live in a fascinating way, particularly in the field of design, but also in many other cultural aspects.
