Description
This assessment outlines the negative aspects of current procedures for dealing with mentally disordered criminals, and suggests feasible solutions to many problems. The stimulus for this interdisciplinary study was an exploratory conference to which members of the legal, prison and medical professions contributed. Topics covered include the criminal process, the courts, prison, hospital and community management. The contributors hope that the material will act as a stimulus for changing attitudes towards the overall care and treatment of offenders.
