Two Australian writers tell for the first time the story of the American Navy's submarine task force based in Brisbane, Australia, during World War II. The submarines'activities were top secret at the time and, although their contribution to the war effort in the Pacific was highly significant, still little is known of them today.
The authors draw on the personal experiences of individual sailors and link submarine operations with the larger strategic picture of the war.
