This volume contains eight papers that examine how trade and commerce are carried out in China. Chapter 1 studies the role of Taiwanese investment in Mainland China and how the impacts are felt in the various emerging markets. Chapter 2 provides an in-depth look at the effectiveness of China's trade policies. Chapter 3 details the industrial impacts of China's entry into the World Trade Organisation while chapter 4 postulates if China's role in causing global deflation is valid. Chapter 5 highlights the different sectors in China where foreign direct investment is predominant and how it relates to her strategic industrial growth. Chapter 6 compares and contrasts the economic growth between China and Southeast Asia in the globalised world. Chapter 7 lists the direction and approach of how East Asian countries -- Japan, China, South Korea -- co-operates in trade with ASEAN. Finally, Chapter 8 presents a case study of China's detergent industry to illustrate the myriad behavioural changes in that competitive and liberalised market.
