内容説明
This text uses both oral testimony and documentary resources to offer a detailed and analytic account of an area where Maori and Pakeha culture confronted each other for a hundred years. The focus is very much on the people involved and the joint Maori Pakeha research team have gained access to much invaluable recollection and opinion. Chapters cover Pakeha teachers, Maori involvement, learning and teaching, language policy, cultural adaptation and health. The book includes vignettes and case studies, photographs, and a number of factual appendices.
