内容説明
Television footage and reportage photography relayed the American-Vietnam war from the remote jungles of South-East Asia to the to sitting rooms of ordinary people living thousands of miles from the battle zone. For the first time in history a major civilian audience was able to monitor military operations on the other side of the world from the comfort of their armchairs. Thousands of people died in the conflict and the memorable images witnessed by so many ultimately contributed to the cessation of the war. This catalogue presents another aspect of the conflict, as seen by Vietnamese artists who created the images of war from behind the lines. All on paper, from traditional rice paper to cardboard, and including pen-and-ink sketches, pencil drawings, chalk designs and acrylics, some represent propaganda material for the government, while others were meant to record events, or as an exercise in creativity.
