This work offers a description of the various aspects of India as seen through the eyes of a British official. It is a very informative and comprehensive volume that notices each aspect under a separate chapter. The 19 chapters describe the monsoon, land of India, the people, the history, religions, domestic life, Hill people, Agriculture and irrigation, famines, manufacturers and commerce, government, tax and revenue, the police and courts, and education. The book was first published in 1910.
