A Narrative of the long career of the author-Alexander Hamilton, this book is huge in a geographical compass; it stretches from the Cape of Good Hope to the Island of Japan. He travelled between the years 1688 and 1723. The book is in 2 volumes; the first chapter contains 32 chapters that offer notices on the European settlements at the cape of good hope, the Islands of the Arabian sea, parts of Ethiopia, upper Egypt, coast of Arabia, Mocha, Aden, Muscat, Bassra, Persia, Hormuz, the river Indus, Gujarat, Cambay, Baroch, Surat, Portuguese settlements in Daman and Bombay, Goa, Canara (Karnataka), Cochin, Malabar, Ceylon, Madras, Coromondel coast. Orrisa while describing these areas he offers glimpses into everyday life, history, military observations, topography and treaties and engagements of those various countries.Volume 2 has 22 chapters and describes Bengal, Arakan, Pegu, Burma, Thailand (Siam), Malacca, Java, Sumatra, Borneo, Cambodia, Cochin-China, Tonking, Canton, Formosa and Japan. This work is a reprint of the 1739 edition.
