Many of them by William Daniell, this particular volume released in 1840 takes the reader through Penakonda (near Mysore); Delhi; Elichpoor (the capital of the erstwhile province of Berar in central India); Mungrool; Gwailghur (in Southern India); Moohktagheni; Boorhampur (on the bank of the river Tapti in the Deccan); Nasik; Hyderabad; Bidder; the Nilgiris; and Meerat. Thoughout the volume, monuments are described, the legends associated with them are narrated, eye witness account of popular customs and manners are given and the history of the places are noticed.
