内容説明

During the 1800s, hard times in China and other Asian countries prompted the first wave of immigration to the United States. This volume covers the immigration of Chinese workers to California during the gold rush and railroad construction boom, as well as the immigration of Japanese, Chinese, Filipino, and Korean people to work at plantations in Hawaii. Despite their hard work, they were denied many basic rights and struggled to survive. Students will learn how Asian immigrants were excluded and discriminated against, and how they began their long battle against these obstacles.
