Description

"This key book, now in its fifth edition, provides the reader with an in-depth introduction to the competition law of the EC and the UK. It looks at the constituent parts of the law, analysing the way in which the law affects particular commercial phenomena, and explains the economic context in which competition law operates. There have been significant developments in legislation and case law, both in the EC and the UK, and these are reflected in the new edition. Among the most notable of the many developments is the Enterprise Act 2002, a major new piece of legislation which will herald many changes in domestic competition law, and repeals the monopoly and merger provisions of the Fair Trading Act 1973.Also of considerable importance is the adoption of Council Regulation 1/2003, the 'EC Modernisation Regulation', which applies with effect from 1 May 2004. This will have a large impact on students beginning their competition law courses in the autumn of 2003, as it will be in force when they take their examinations.Covering these and the most important cases from the competition authorities of the EC and UK in an accessible manner, Whish: Competition Law is invaluable both to law
