内容説明

Using the resources of the Archivo de la Corona de Aragon in Barcelona, this investigation focuses on the trial of the Templars in North-eastern Spain in the 14th century. The templars had been established in Aragon and Catalonia for over 150 years, during which time they expanded and increased their weaponry and power. Increasingly, they were perceived by the monarchy to be a threat, and the temple was eventually dissolved by Pope Clement V in 1312. The study provides the background and the beginnings of the trial proceedings, and progresses to include details of sieges of the Templar Castles and the Templars' interrogation and custody. It also provides details of the aftermath of the trial, and the fate of the Templar property.
