Published in association with Regional Centre for Strategic Studies, Colombo. The Maoist movement of Nepal has assumed alarming proportions in the last few years. The author elaborates on the history of Communism in the country, looks into the causes behind the growth of the insurgency, repercussions of the events of 9/11 on Nepal and hindrances to a negotiated settlement of the problem in a different view of capturing the real power plays inside the Himalayan Kingdom. The present book is one of its kind as it focuses on the implications for India and China of a sustained political instability and ensuing violence inside this crucial buffer zone with geo-strategic importance to both the Asian giants.
