Note
Covering the period 1769-1800, these letterbooks contain the correspondence of a Jamaican sugar planter (family name variously spelt Vassal' or 'Vassall'), who was resident in Boston, Massachusetts, much of whose property was confiscated and sold during the American War of Independence. From the collections of Sheffield Central Library.
This film was made from the original documents; a few of these are faded, illegible or difficult to decipher but have been included for the sake of archival completeness. The legibility of the film is in all respects equal to the originals.
