"The first four chapters of the work, together with the introduction, appeared in successive numbers of "The Catholic University bulletin" during 1906-7. Of these, the introduction and the chapter on Colonial schools in Pennsylvania were reprinted from the "Bulletin" pages and published by the Reverend Superintendent of Catholic Schools, Philadelphia, in the series of quarterly "Educational briefs," the former appearing in July, 1907, and the latter in January, 1908."--Pref
