This book provides a systematic appproach to the physical therapy interview, and details the decision-making process leading up to either musculoskeletal diagnosis or physician referral. It emphasizes recognition of the signs and symptoms of systemic disease which may mimic neuromusculoskeletal problems. It also answers questions about related medical conditions, and provides a point of reference for determining when a patient should be referred to a physician. It identifies, describes, and gives examples of the steps in the interviewing process - offers interviewing guidelines and key questions to ask the patient. Included are charts of clinical signs and symptoms, and two-colour drawings of primary and referred pain patterns for quick reference and comparison.
