These are the reminiscences of Peter O'Leary (Peadar O Laoghaire) (1839-1920), a priest and well-known orator who worked for land reform and the preservation of Gaelic. Living among the poor rural people in a crucial period of Irish history, he left in this book a valuable social document and a view of momentous events as seen by the common people.
