Description
Dedicated specifically to nuclear analytical techniques, this publication is intended to assist scientists using alpha, beta and gamma spectrometries, neutron activation and XRF analyses, and other nuclear analytical methods, in assessing and quantifying the sources of uncertainty in their daily measurements. It complements the Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement published by ISO and other organizations in 1993, and the EURACHEM Guide on Quantifying Uncertainty in Analytical Measurement, the second edition of which was published in 2000. Thirteen selected examples of quantification of measurement uncertainty covering a number of nuclear analytical techniques and different measurand/matrix combinations are elaborated in detail. This publication may therefore be used as a course material as well as guidance in the assessment of competence for accreditation and similar purposes for laboratories applying nuclear analytical techniques.
