Identifying health issues which are important to children aged between 12 and 14 years, this book aims to help teachers develop programmes of study for health education in a way that is appropriate to the particular school and its curriculum. It contains lesson plans and photocopiable activity sheets relevant to Key Stage 3 for each of the nine topic areas specified by the National Curriculum Council's guidelines for health education. These areas are substance use and misuses, safety, sex education, family life education, health-related exercise, food and nutrition, personal hygiene, environmental aspects of health and psychological aspects of health. All the activities are pupil-centred and draw on pupils' own experience and personal resources.
