Description

This is a comprehensive guide to more than 1,500 Dickens characters from The Artful Dodger to The Zephyr (pseudonym of Mr Mivens in The Pickwick Papers). Over 1,500 entries detail every named character in Dickens' extensive ouvre. From the early Sketches by Boz to the unfinished Edwin Drood, no character - even the most minor - is overlooked. Each entry comprises a brief description of the character and references to all the chapters and important events in which he or she appears. For principal characters there is a selection of quates from the original works. The authors also include an additional 200 entries detailing Dickens' fictional places, societies, and allusions.
