内容説明
This survey presents a technical analysis of the raw materials and finished products that have been proposed to take the place of asbestos and asbestos products. The first half of the volume examines such raw materials as glass fibres, mineral wools, synthetic and natural organic fibres and metallic fibres. All of the materials have been proposed by manufacturers and producers as substitutes, but no single material or combination of materials has been found to satisfy all the criteria for acceptable replacement. The text then deals with the science of substitution, which is the domain of the product manufacturers. The six major product groups which consume almost all of the world's asbestos supply are discussed. Many of the products reviewed in this section possess an established potential for replacing asbestos-based products, and have been singled out for their technical and economic viability.
