内容説明
This new edition analyses the origins and development of the Liberal Party in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Changing Liberal principles and approaches are explored and the contributions of important individuals, notably William Gladstone, assessed. In particular, the author examines the extent to which Gladstone's dominance of Liberalism, in the latter decades of the 1800s, had long-term negative effects, diverting the Party's attention away from social reform and thereby paving the way for the emergence of Labour. The updated study guides provide a firm basis for answering source-based and essay questions.
