内容説明

The career of Felicien Rops started with is political and socially critical satires. In Paris he rapidly became one of the highest paid illustrators, meeting the Parisian bibliophile collector Jules Noilly in 1878, for whom he drew "A Hundred Light, Unpretentious Sketches to Amuse Respectable People". A total of 114 drawings are presented in this volume, along with caricatures and some of Rops' blasphemous, erotic graphics. The works combine vice and passion, which is epitomized by Ropsienne, a scantly-clad, yearning woman who smiles at the hypocrisy of respectable citizens.
