内容説明
Accumulating discussions and renewed focus on the study of the Psalms and mythology have stimulated scholars to address issues of interest prevalent in contemporary research. As the Psalter itself endlessly diverse, dense, and complex and existentially captivating with infinite potential for theological contemplation and reappropriation, this book offers unique insights and sketches a variety of interpretive possibilities. The exposition of Psalm texts against the background of their different historical, cultic, and mythological settings in the ancient Near East sets as a firm basis for their reapplication in the Church and society today. In the history of interpretation, the Psalms have proven themselves to be natural texts for a variety of uses inside and outside the Church. This book revives various ways of interpreting and applying the Psalms.
