Description and Table of Contents

Description

Current research is beginning to shed light on the mechanisms by which hypoxia can alter the expression and activity of specific proteins which are essential to the functioning of certain cell types. Rapid progress is being made towards understanding the molecular basis of the effects of hypoxia which may also be involved in important disease processes, including cancer and Alzheimer's disease, and as such may offer important targets for future therapeutic intervention. This volume provides an overview of oxygen sensing and its associated responses in mammalian tissue, with chapters covering with the pathophysiology of hypoxia, and its role is diseases.
