Critical acclaim for her talent began with the publication of her first novel, Wise Blood, in 1952 and her reputation has grown enormously since her death. To commemorate the 75th anniversary of her birth, many of today's most important writers have come together to offer original tributes attesting to the importance of O'Connor to their own creative life and work.Flannery O'Connor (1925-1964) was born in Savannah and began writing and illustrating short narratives during grade school.
